Waffle Knit Boxy Polo Shirt
badhabits. x TOKONOMA ‘Goth Golf’
I’ve always wanted a boxy polo made from waffle knit. Not too long, not clingy, not heat trapping and most importantly, does not lose its shape and structure after a couple of hours outside (like those shitty linen shirts from Z*ra or C*S). The Goth Golf event finally gave me the reason to create the exact version I had in mind.
The fabric is a wide weave cotton waffle knit that allows air to pass through without becoming see through. It feels textured, light, and cool even in warm weather. The collar is reinforced so it keeps its structure and does not stretch or flop after repeated wear. The structure and form holds itself and does not change throughout the day or with repeated wear (as long as you wear it reasonably with regular care.)
The cropped fit is intentional. I patterned it to sit cleanly at the waistband of our pleated pants. This creates a balanced silhouette with a clear top block and no bunching or overhang. When worn with a regular waist, the hem still meets the pants naturally without feeling too short. These proportions come from years of being unsatisfied with what the polo tee market has to offer.
